The short answer

Let a new mat settle only by the method its maker allows. A cool, compressed liner may relax when laid flat in a suitable space, but a wrong contour will not become correct with patience. Test the fit before trimming, drilling, gluing, or exposing the material to high heat.

Diagnose the curl

Pattern More likely explanation Next step
All corners lift after shipping Packaging memory or cold Use the approved flat-settle method.
One edge never meets the floor Wrong contour or obstruction Check model, trim, and floor position.
Raised lip touches hatch Oversize or incorrect shape Do not force the hatch closed.
Mat flattens warm but curls cold Material memory or temperature sensitivity Check product limits and return policy.
Surface is wavy after heat Permanent deformation Stop and replace it.

Remove cargo, place the mat without weight on safety equipment, and cycle the hatch and seats slowly. A cargo liner should not prevent latches, tie-downs, or emergency access.

This is a material-care guide, not a license to heat or modify a liner. Follow the product instructions and vehicle manual.
